Amazing Earthship Pictures (inside and out)
June 28, 2008
Yes, another post about earthships so soon. (If you don’t know what an earthship is, click here.) I’ve always wanted to do an image-heavy post, so here it is.
Although there are typical, straight earthship designs, there have been many more built around the world using intricate and beautiful designs. Here are some of my favorites. (Click on the picture to be taken to the original source.)
Earthship in Taos, New Mexico (the black dots are glass bottles)
Phoenix, AZ Earthship
Bathroom inside earthship, with a stone-wall tub. Beautiful! The glass bottles are not for reinforcing walls but to use junk/recyclables as part of the wall, so less concrete and building materials are used. It enhances the look of the wall with various lights and colors.
Interior of earthship. See those plants? They help with filtering water for use throughout the house and provide fresh air.
Looks so homey and inviting!
Earthship at nighttime
A lot of people think houses made of earth are dirty or that they’ll have to sacrifice a lot of home comforts to live in one. As you can see from these pictures, that’s just not true. You don’t have to give up a thing except high gas and electricity bills.
